The type of concrete, which is usually used in the design of the kitchen or the bathroom, is known as architectural concrete. It is more durable and more ductile than traditional concrete. It is often covered with interesting patterns and textures and impregnated with special chemicals limiting moisture absorption. Different color variations of this type of panels are used, but the most common one is the traditional gray in various shades from almost white to almost black. Architectural concrete is used in the form of panels of various sizes, from large-scale to small ones, similar to tiles. It can also be used for kitchen counter tops, tables, claddings, window sills or bathroom sinks. It is also well suited for industrial and minimalist interiors. We should remember, however, that such interior arrangements are relatively difficult to execute. Composite panels require space. Using them to cover the walls and then painting over them, hanging wallpaper or covering the walls doesn’t make much sense. For that reason concrete looks best in large spaces. Another issue is the type of lighting. The best fit is warm lighting with a low color temperature, as excessively intense white light will make the interior look sterile and unfriendly. It’s best to entrust the arrangement of a concrete space to professionals, as it may simply prove too difficult for someone unqualified to strike a balance between the concrete elements and the remaining interior design elements, such as the furniture, curtains, colored accessories and floors. A badly arranged, monotonous interior with concrete walls will at best resemble a warehouse. In the worst case – a garage or a lumber room.
